Vote for Nature

The other day I was pursuing my bookmarked web pages and among them was the Nature Canada website. The leading article, Vote for Nature, prompted me to send the petition included to all of the political parties in Canada. The significance of this whole thing is that not a few days later, I received an email from the NDP (New Democrats) stating their support for animal welfare and other relevant platform issues. It truly is appreciated that there is a response when addressing politicians, albeit a template for responses, to confirm that perhaps some of our concerns are being addressed by the fat cats.

Also included is a link for WSPA and all of the leaders' responses regarding animal welfare. They encourage us to read each party's response to assess exactly what their views are. Granted one's personal opinion, or even what they promise is significantly different from what they actually do, but it's still moderately informative. WSPA Vote for Animals

As you may notice, the Conservatives chose not to respond to the survey, which makes it abundantly clear the level of importance animal welfare is on their agenda. hmmm.

One of These Things is Just Like the Other...

*They even have the same photo-opt pose!
One difference ~ McCain may very well have more personality

It is a statement that has validated the theory that Harper is simply the Canadian, miniaturized version of the States' Republicans: "the fundamentals of the economy are strong". This statement has been the response of both Stephen Harper and John McCain when asked about the state of the economy in their respective countries. And because there is far more media attention on the presidential election, it has only been McCain that has been ribbed for making such an outlandish statement. The fundamentals of the economy? What does that mean anyone? Regardless of what this vague statement is supposed to mean, again, it does reiterate that Harper has every intention on keeping his smarmy fish-lips planted on the Republicans arses. sigh What happened to the days of autonomy?

Conservative Kids

There has been a fall election called. And now we will be bombarded with advertisements and campaign commercials galore. Actually, I have already viewed on Conservative commercial propping up Stephen Harper. Truthfully, I am moderately indifferent about the whole thing until one of the pods exclaimed, "I like that he's a family man. He has young kids". That statement makes me dislike him even more as I know he has drastically reduced the child benefits of many parents, parents that are now struggling with the doubtful economy. Of one parent in particular, her child benefits have experienced cuts from $50 and $100. Yup, this supposed family man is proud of his monetary solution for family finances ~ reduce the amounts by $150 each payment!
